Our Family

At Heartland Meadows

Sea change! We wanted to find acreage in a smallish town and create a Retreat Centre that was available and affordable for everyone – not priced at the cost of a first car for a week away! Our ultimate goal was to establish a retreat centre where people could come to heal, feel whole, find themselves and simply have a break from the stressors of modern life. Alongside retreats we wanted to establish a community and family of like-minded people who would share experiences, support one another and co-create a society based on compassion and connectedness

MANIFESTING HEARTLAND MEADOWS

We were fully prepared to build this from the ground up and had even been looking at properties with absolutely no infrastructure, but then we found Heartland. It was a whirlwind romance and we waved goodbye to our beach-side lifestyle and moved to the country.

LIVING AT HEARTLAND MEADOWS

Every day is a joyous adventure, from frogs in toilets, the big horses frolicking in the retreat centre because we didn’t shut the gate properly (this happened in our first week!), lorikeets and king parrots coming to visit every afternoon, surprising wallabies in the early mornings, building campfires, lying under the stars at night – more stars than we have ever seen, walking through the bushland…. It is an absolutely wondrous place to be. You can feel it as soon as you drive through the first gate.

WHERE WE BELONG

We love being here and our children are often out on adventures rather than scrolling through their devices. We have 7 rescued miniature ponies and 4 recued horses who are always up for a pat, and even more so for a carrot. We have 600 organic macadamia trees and the beginnings of our permaculture garden that we hope to eventually provide enough produce for our family and all our retreat guests. We back onto National Forest, so we often have deer visitors in the back meadows. Heartland Meadows Retreat is a sanctuary for animals and humans alike and is a place of mindfulness and peace.
